Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

How many applications have you sent?

I’m ashamed to say how many job applications I’ve submitted and how many times I’ve gotten to the interview phase. I hope that I will get lucky soon, but the chances are that I will not get a good offer for a long time.

Just take your time at COP off the resume. Then you will be marketable.

It’s brutal out there, but keep at it and you’ll find something. Don’t bother with oil and gas, as there are fewer positions, and more
people vying for them every day.

Keep trying. I left last year and couldn't be happier. I took about a 15% pay cut however there is no ranking BS and I get to work from home 2 days a week at my new company. The less stress is well worth it. I actually sleep well and enjoy going to work.

Please forget COP. It is a dog eat dog company. Because of their force ranking system people are having to backstab and sabotage co workers to get ahead and not be on a PIP. There are much better and happier O&G companies to work for.

Depending on what you do, it might not take as long as you think. COP is on borrowed time. Or at least, most employees are. Unless you’re a manager or have a cool accent. Then your going down with the ship. Everyone else...expendable.
