I took wonder why so many continue to claim fake news. Most threads here predicting actions have proven to be true. I guess people prefer to live in denial.

Not fake news at all. This is actually true and not a secret. The timeframe for SCO layoffs is between August and September. Claims has already started and more to come.

There are no secrets in this company. The layoffs in 2020 were all over this board in spring of 2020 after Tom lied and denied 2020 layoffs. Management was not blindsided at all. We just didn't know exactly who all was to be impacted and was caught by surprise that they were larger in scale than we were told.

People just cry fake news because they don't want to believe it and are scared and in fear that they may be impacted.

This is not fake news. Voluntary retirement offers went out to Counsel level and above (Lead Counsel) members of Staff Counsel (SCO = Staff Counsel Office) in April and then they had to either accept or reject the offers by sometime in May. Offers did not go out to everyone in these positions, but some. Those that accepted can work through August/Sept/October, then they're out. Depending on how many people voluntarily leave will determine other layoffs. So far this has only affected leadership/management positions in Staff Counsel, not support staff (Mail Processors, Admins, Paralegals).

I've been reading this board long enough to where people claiming "this is the month because my sources told me!" has become almost a trope.

Management knows no more than their employees. The last round of layoffs, the managers were just as blindsided as their frontline employees. People need to stop spreading falsehoods, if not outright lies. The only people who know anything are the higher ups, and they keep everything close to the vest. Unless your source is Shapiro or Jacobs themselves, they don't know anything.

Fake news. Management wouldn't and doesn't know anything more than frontline employees do.

I was told something similar on the down low. It is not supposed to be public information, but that is pretty accurate. Unfortunately, he could not disclose the criteria for who is being selected.
