Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Who can give insight?

May I ask, how many days in advance was you given notice for your layoff ? Anyone who could assist with this post it’ll go a long way. Ohio is certainly not in a position to keep anyone, come January 22, 2022 (it’s a wrap) . We are only existing to service the contract we’re in now and many are just waiting for the hammer! Also how do they determine your severance? How long will they pay for Cobra? And if you get Severance are you able to collect unemployment? I also know management was asking about there top four performers and the least 4 performers in the departments, a few months back. Was this a sign of the “covert layoff list”? Unless a magic wand is waived Centene will not get themselves out of this Quandary, karma is a bi--h. Also is it true that you’ve noticed age discrimination, Ada discrimination, Tenure individuals getting laid off when they are more qualified ? Thank you for your responses in advance.

Top 4/bottom 4 ranking is a prelude to a layoff. Beware if you perform well but your supervisor has been giving you only average reviews because of some department or forced ranking.

Severance and UI will depend on the payout. If it's lump sum, you can start to collect after it's paid out. If it's a salary continuance, you'll have to file after it's over. To your advantage as it extends your benefit year and earnings.

You can collect both severance and unemployment. I believe sev is calculated by years of service and title but don’t know the actual calculation. You could get 6 weeks to 6 months depending on your situation. As far as notice, well that varies as well. Some folks got 2 weeks, others got months.

I'd read back through the threads on this post for some of the answers. These questions sound a bit like a person in HR or upper management poking around to see what is being discussed.
