Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Interesting projects?

When was the last time you worked on a project that was really interesting? I don't remember anymore.
This demotivates me a lot and is one of the main reasons why I started looking for a new job. I thought the lack of interesting projects was just a phase, but unfortunately, it seems that this phase will take much longer than I thought.

What's interesting is figuring out how to survive the next axing, like looking at the list of people you haven't kissed up enough and getting to work on the smooching.

I had 4 projects get cancelled or they had so many bugs in the lower layers that they had to start over. It was ridiculous. I left and am happier now at another company.

the only "interesting" projects at intel is how to con some d-mb VP into buying your snake oil

the best most interesting projects have tech vision, usually by Tier 1 PHD from good schools like UCPB or Jr College degree....look at top tier at TMSC, AMD etc..

Upper level people in Intel who lead the projects know nothing about cutting edge technologies and you expect interesting projects from them?

I hate to blow your bubble, but there is no such thing as an interesting project. What used to be something like a block that can be done by 2 ppl, and hence well rewarded project, is now done by 13 or more ppl. I understand human population is getting bigger, but fact is, pie is getting smaller. Most of what sells that rewards the company in profits needs fewer and fewer workers. The best thing is to own your own business, but even that is getting hard with so many monopolies out there. 20 years ago, 3 years out of college will get 4 or 5 offers easily. Intel doesn’t make it money through ad’s or clicks.

I did work on a few interesting projects, but they ALL got canceled in favor of less interesting projects. By less interesting projects I mean roadmap gap fillers and projects that milk the old tech nodes.
