Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

How would you rate your career here?

I’m satisfied, but I think I could have achieved a lot more in a company where favoritism is not as big a problem as it is here. I’ve always loved just my job but I didn't want to play games to be among someone’s favorites to achieve all my ambitions.

For those who are not favorites, no matter how much more value they have added to this company, the path has been much harder. In that sense, I think that the company is not progressing at all, but that the favoritism is getting stronger from year to year.

I enjoyed my first 10-11 years with the company. The last 3-4 not so much. Things got really bad. I even saw an un paid vendor show up to kick someone's a-s because of lack of payment. I saw grass getting taller around facilities because the yard crews stopped showing up due to lack of payment. Management would get angry when materials wouldn't be delivered only to find out it was being withheld due to lack of payment. Every day you had a feeling of impending doom.

Can’t say I saw a lot of nepotism but the level of ever increasing incompetence as they decimated the experience and knowledge in the company was mind boggling!

There is no career path or plan at Weatherford and anybody who tells you any different has absolutely no idea about Weatherford. It’s nepotism and favoritism all the way, don’t even think there’s any sort of meritocracy because there isn’t . You’re just treading water all the time until you either leave or get the chop.

I had a really great time at Weatherford 20 years+ prior to retiring. I enjoyed my 6 different jobs that I did there R&D manager Houston, Operations Manager Houston, Warehouse Manager ADM, Sales And Commercial Support Manager Houston, PL Planning Manager Houston, Global Project Manager Aberdeen
If I did not enjoy what I did. I would not have been there for so long. This company did good for me and my family. I worked hard to get where I was. Remember nothing is for free.
