Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Sad state of affairs......

This company is divided more than ever, Employee's moral is very low and and tension is high. Communication is very poor and basically at a stand still.

Some of the managers in the services group as I have observed, have the Hi---r syndrome, and it is heartening to see good working employees treated badly and lose the stamina they always had. Managers yelling at people and degrading them in front of peers is outrageous.

If this is by design to get rid of folks then it will work, but unfortunately, it will only get rid of the best folks.

It takes a long time and much HR involvement to get rid of a very bad apple. Hopefully, the plan is moving forward to justify removing this bad apple. May not always be obvious, but keeping my fingers crossed for those in this situation.

OK person who is writing just their own observations. I by my no means am defending Dell but it isn't any worse than any other global corporation in IT. I am sure there are bad managers who treat people badly. That exists in every company. If it is that rough move on. In the groups I work in I don't see the depressing state of affairs you describe. Just a heads up, services are almost always treated badly in any company like Dell. Mainly because it is a services org in a product company.

I think he/she may have been referring to a short German man with a short German mustache from the 1940s. Did some bad things.

We have lab managers that are told they can't be lab mangers anymore. The organization is so built on building their empire that they take people and destroy them. These folks know what we need before we know what we need. This is how they will get rid of folks by forcing them out. That services group is a big joke!!!!!

It is true, I have seen and heard the degrading of folks myself. I am surprised that the VP allows that behavior. They are already starting to lose some good folks and some are talking of leaving....
