Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

As this is the Layoff.com, what constructive information can you pass along

As this is the Layoff.com, what constructive information can you pass along , I have complained like others here but that doesn't help when your laid off. Lets start giving constructive information for those of us laid off or know where on the chopping block.

Idea's

  • COBRA or private health Insurance and which companies
  • Leads to companies hiring and in what specific area's
  • What the layoff/WFR letter or contract you had to sign to get severance , what you would do if it happened again
  • Come on people lets give some real help, we can b*tch till the cows come home, but it doesnt do anyone any good

Working in DXC is like taking opium. You can sink into that slow, laid-back bliss, knowing that the work is easy, thinking yeah I can do this for a few years, easy peasy, no stress. But it's a trap. The longer you stay, the more you stagnate, the more your motivation depletes, and you accept that the overall lack of incentive is inextricably linked to stagnation of remuneration / compensation, indeed it doesn't even go up with inflation, so they pay you LESS every year! If you're good at what you do, you MUST leave as soon as possible, you MUST find another job, before you become one of those guys who thrives in mediocrity. Yeah it's sometimes nice to have an easy job for a little while but, unless you're rapidly approaching retirement, don't get addicted to soporific lethargy. It'll drag you down.

Constructive help.

Find a new role, now. Leave. Don't wait for WFR. Control your own life, don't let DXC control it for you.

A couple of easy things you can do to stay prepared for WFR..... (from a US perspective)

  • Make networking an ongoing effort. When a coworker leaves, make sure you've added them to your LinkedIn - keep growing that contact list
  • Set up job alerts on the various career web sites - like Glassdoor, Indeed, etc - always keep an eye open to what kinds of jobs are out there and locations. If working remote is your thing, there's been huge growth in options
  • Keep your resume up to date - monthly
  • Take advantage of the e-learning options that DXC does have, take some CBTs, refresh your skills, learn something new that seems interesting
  • When your number comes up and you do get WFR - blast it out on your social media, don't be shy, let people know that you're looking for a new opportunity!
