Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

I'm no longer scared of layoffs

I can't be the only one who's going to consider being laid off a favor. I feared the possibility for so long but I realized that I've become so overworked with so few rewards that leaving would be a blessing. While I'm not brave enough to just quit, being laid off would help solve that issue. Of course, this is only true for as long as Xerox is still providing severance. If that becomes a thing of the past, I'll start worrying once again.

Does anyone know what severance has been like in Canada over the last year ?

Same, I've been dying for a layoff. I'm in Canada, unemployment would pay the same amount as cr---y Xerox. They will also pay for me to go to school. If I quit, I don't get any of that.
Not sure how much longer I can take working here though

I'd hoped I would have gotten laid off. I waited and waited, but I just couldn't take it anymore, so I just quit. Best decision I ever made.

Why would you want to wait around to get laid off? How is that your long term goal at a company? Don’t u want to be somewhere u succeed and feel great about what you do?

For the piddly severance in the US I was not going to let them walk me out the door. I survived over 2 decades there. I went out on my own with a new job. Looking for a job is the hard part but it’s 50x easier when you currently have a job then to do it when you are running out of severance

All country dependent. US offers very little anymore but other countries offer more per federal laws.

Unless you’re in Canada.

Check out the HR policy on separations. There IS no severance to speak of. Two weeks of health coverage, that's it. 4 to 6 weeks of pay, that's it. Maybe it's changed since I got laid off. I would definitely figure out ahead of time how you'd cover health care if you got laid off.
