Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How do you handle the pressure?

Pressure and tensions have become so common here and people are having to get used to it in order to endure the whole situation until they manage to find a new job. However, lately I have been finding it harder to bear the pressure. Running was once my favorite way to relax from work, but since I had an injury, it’s no longer an option. Stress continues to accumulate and I just don't know how much longer I can last here.

Take your breaks––take your full lunch time and your 15 minute breaks and step away from the computer. Turn off your computer at the end of the day and try to find something to do with a friend or family member to hold you accountable. I have TV shows I'll watch regularly with friends then we call to discuss, or I have a friend who I'm reading the same book as and we'll discuss once a week, for example.

Stress, especially with this company, is real and awful and it can pull you down and depress you. so anything you can do to pull you up and focus attention on outside the work, would be so helpful.

I know ones that are drinking during the day since they work from home, and there are a few that are doing worse things to keep them "up".

Lower your standard of living. Try to pay every thing off. If you are not financially able to pay off your debt you can do other things. Ride an ebike and dump the car. Sell the house or move out of the apartment and get a travel trailer. Host at a campground for 20 hours a week for free rent and utilities. There are also potential beautiful settings. You can make the money for food and clothing and recreation from working retail or any part time job.

I chose to deal with it by not dealing with it because I deserve better, so I quit

I don't know why there are all the down votes on your post. Stress is real. Talking about it helps and I'm glad you posted here. I had to leave earlier than I intended due to serious anxiety issues that ultimately affected me physically. I'm trying to get by with much less financially now but it's much better than leaving there in a box.
