Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Signs that they want you gone

Two of my coworkers got fired last month. Good employees, responsible workers, long–timers….. There was no apparent reason for firing them. A couple of months before that our manager changed his behavior towards them. He started dumping massive loads of work on them, he started having remarks about their work even though there was no reason for that. A couple of months after that they’re gone.
I don’t want to get into the discussion about whether the manager made that call or if he was instructed from above but I tend to think that if anybody faces this sort of shift of behavior from their superior he or she should immediately start looking for a new job instead of trying to fix this relationship

I don't get it, doesn't the rating go by your overall review? Not just one or two of the objectives? Someone can have a better than expected on one objective, expected on another and inconsistent on another and still have an overall EXPECTED rating.

The "front line manager" on this post is lying, straight up. Allstate would never tell any front line manager that, because they'd almost assuredly run up against labor laws/anti–discrimination laws. with such a comment.

So many people come to this board and outright lie.

I guess this is where the managers make the real $ – when they sell their souls to the company that will eventually boot them out once the company has no use for them. Managers and non–managers need to beware of company that encourages this toxic behavior. It is a lot worse for managers who have no working skills (and many don't) because after losing their job, they will have no real friends either. I've seen managers who force employees out of jobs only to be laid off themselves later – and then everyone cheers when these managers lose their jobs.

Well dang, that’ll be all of us taking agent chats then. Their goal to be acceptable is 10 per hour and everyone is in red or yellow (unacceptable or inconsistent) due to that metric. It’s not attainable even with 2 chats at a time. Guess India will take chats then.

@iqj What did you expect OP to do? Had they stepped up to challenge or interject themselves into the situation a prompt termination would have likely ensued.

Better question us what would you have done that would not resulted in you being fired? And don't say contact HR or CERT as they are just as in on all of this company's antics as anyone else. The way this company is set up you either deal with it or leave sadly enough.

So you just stood by and allowed this to happen to your friends/coworkers?

“We’re a family” until the workload doubles and you’re no longer BTE.

It’s all about who makes the most $$$. If you’ experienced and at the top of your pay band, you’re on blast. They want to replace you with a newbie for 1/2 the cost. It’s age discrimination but that’s the way Allstate is playin it.

They are trimming the fat across the board but it doesn’t add up. Some of the employees getting let go or offered voluntary termination offers are very good employees. I have no idea how they decide on some people over others.

Front line manager here. We have been instructed to “trim the fat” so to speak so make sure your metrics and NPS is BTE and if you’re in the situation the OP references...get out now...you’re days are numbered.
