The Fair Labor Standard Act which is anything but fair says that a company can work you like a slave(no overtime) so the company can make a profit for their shareholders if you’re an Executive, administrator or have professional job duties??? (Vague to say the least)and make a at least 35568.00. Up until 2020 this was only 23660.00. The law was apparently passed to help profits in the 1970’s. Guess who was President then. Hint. He was impeached. Maybe this antiquated law can be reversed. Companies are obviously taking advantage of this law. Contact your congressman unless he is of the party that passed this hideous law since it probably won’t do any good. It’s human nature to take advantage of people. People have been using slave labor, cheap overseas labor and cheap immigrant labor since time began. Allstate has to to this because the other companies are doing it and they need to be competitive. It’s the freakin law. There should be no minimum wage where overtime can’t be paid. Get your work life balance back. Get on all social media and get something started until the government does something. You need to be with your family, get some exercise, enjoy a hobby, spend more time with spiritual life. I feel your pain. I was an Allstate employee.

I was not in grunt work. According to the Fair Standard Labor Act I was classified as a professional. And you are also wrong about the government not meddling in the labor law because they already did in the 1970’s by getting rid of overtime for professional employees.
@1mtc+1axhRQUf I never work more than 40 hours per week. Seems that the issue is the role. I am in a competitive role after years of honing my specialized skills. I can easily go somewhere else for better conditions, so I get more accommodations than the average employee.
If you're only qualified to do grunt work, you'll have to put up with extra hours. Your other option is take control of your situation and get a better job or develop a specialization that makes your employment advantageous to your employer. Playing the blame game is just showing how lazy you are.
That said, there are lots of things the government shouldn't concern itself with but electing the current governor of president is only going to increase the government's meddling in labor law, not streamline it. Increases in minimum wage, beneficial treatment to labor unions, etc are not fixing the issue.
40 hours per weeks a good balance Above this is out of balance. Most people do not know that most of Europe has a 37.5 hour work week. There is no point in moving to another employer when all employers do the same thing. The salary law needs to be abolished like slavery was in the 1800’s.
That is why you're an at will employee. If you don't like your situation, you're free to move on to a different employer.
Work Life Balance is an ideology and not a process that is protected by labor laws and certainly not something that is required to be granted. Plus over half if "Work Life Balance" us in your mindset and how you juggle your career and your life. Work Life Balance is individual and unique to each. How Allstate and other companies put this forward is only part of it. Most of it is handled through individual mindset and practice. You individually own and are responsible for a large portion of the concept of your own Work Life Balance. We are balance work and life differently.
