Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How to identify bs and defend yourself

Charlies goal is to get you to quit.

Charlie set the tone when he changed our status from Team Members to employees. Everything he has done is anti-employee.

Here is a list of what he has done and what you can do to get even:

  1. Cutting severance package in half (DONE)
  1. Change 401k match from quarterly to annually (DONE)
  1. Shift work to India and Phillipines(DONE)
  1. Hub strategy to make you choose between family and community vs your job (Delayed)
  1. Forced ranking - a failed rating approach used by GE designed to put you on defensive and become a popularity contest(START 2021)
  1. Increase span of control to eliminate process and procedure. (DONE)
  1. Double triple and quadruple workload - as folks get cut, india comes in unable to do the work, which falls back to you (DONE)
  1. Remove profit sharing from 401k and move to at a whim discretionary match.

How to defend yourself:

  1. Maximize your training opportunities. India get bonus and praise for learning new skills and Wells pays for it. Request training, in writing. Document it all using pictures on personal cell phone. This can be used as evidence in future discrimination hearing.
  1. Look for another job that allows remote work. It is encouraged to try to work Wells job and another job at same time. Remote work is here to stay. Focus more on other job, solidify it, then when ready quit bank.
  1. Document india asking for help. Write a log in google sheets on cell phone. nUse to defend yourself agaonst forced ranking xharges. Make yourself less available. Answer questions with questions. Make transition less easy and make everything they ask a joke.
  1. Just work less hard. Dont work more than 36 hours a week on anything. In agile sessions overestimate your time. If task takes 3 hours push for 6 to 9 hour task.
  1. Read up on policy. Use policy to thwart workstreams. Many times managers, project managers or even branch managers are not 100% versed in policy. Whenever something comes up thats a little left of center quote anti-policy risk; if you are in tech data or any back office function, use this liberally.
  1. Be sure to read policy on employee behavior. International teams have a different policy. Use the difference to log complaints in HR when international steps over the line.
  1. Take family leave as often as you can. Congress passed the family leave act. If you are a critical worker, take time off. There are lots of conditions that qualify as "serious condition" - read up on law; you are entitled to FMLA if you in anyway remotely qualify: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/opinion-letters/search
  1. Use more bad data, bad code, omit paperwork to slow down business.

You're completely delusional if you really think that sabotaging your employer will benefit you in any way.

OP

This is not as bad of a post as people are coming you after for. I actually agree with you in theory.

I might have called it “fighting back” rather than “defending yourself”. I am all for fighting back against all that is Wells Fargo. Turn their bs back on them and use it against them. The only way to create change at Wells Fargo is to force management to experience the misery their poor decisions and technology create for their employees and their customers. I’m all for that.

You lost your audience with #1 being incorrect, unfortunately. But other than that, you’ve got some potential in being an anti Yes–Man, and I support you.

If you were to do some research, Wells severance package is not “very generous”. It is actually “very typical”.

If you’re going to come after people, telling them to grow up and quit whining, you yourself should be grown up enough to get your facts straight.

#9. Instead of doing all of the 8 non sense items above. Look for another job and put yourself out of misery

@OP. Right off the bat you are wrong. Where did you get the idea that CS cut severance benefit in half? What are you smoking? He could if he wants to. Wells severance is very generous. So quit whining. Grow up!

Probably a du–b question OP, but if WF is a horrible place to work, why would you want to "defend yourself"? Wouldn't it be better to be laid off, get the severance, and go elsewhere?

Seriously who has time to do all those things. I rather spend time and energy looking for another job.

Uhhh, #8 has always been discretionary, ever since it quasi–replaced the Cash Balance Plan. Pretty sure that was Stumpf. I believe the severance cut was pre–CS also, it just didn't make much of an impact because few were laid off at the time. Lastly, I don't think the shift to India is "done".
