Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Don't switch teams if you can help it

I switched teams recently (it wasn't my idea and I didn't have a choice other than to refuse and quit) and I can see why they were so desperate to get me. I got stuck with the most unprofessional and lazy group of people I ever worked with. Bad decisions are made non–stop, there is no focus, no accountability, no drive, nothing! If I want something done, I have to do it on my own even if it's not a one–person job. How can something like this be happening when we are cutting people left and right is beyond me. How are all of them still here???

If the new group you described is being overseen by a $350K/yr Admin with no technical or people skills, I know exactly which group you landed in. Prayers sent.

Switching teams any time leading up to ranking is bad news. Your old team, knowing you are leaving, has no reason to represent you fairly in ranking. HR oversight of the process is just for the company's protection, not for yours. There is no recourse either. It has happened to so many people over the years. They are more interested in rewarding and boosting those who remain in their group and are happy to take from those who leave. Good luck!

At least they kept you on the same bucket.
I believe my old boss will Put me on the bottom since I am not on his group anymore. So he can save his current group.

I had it happen the last time I moved. They basically took enough rank points to keep me exactly in the same bucket so they could give them to someone else that remained on the team. They didn’t even try to lie about it (much).

Sounds like URC Lab to me.

I’d be worried I am their fall guy for the year. Make sure other managers in the assessment know your accomplishments.
