Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Skepticism and fear

How many of you stayed here just because you thought that in a company where you could possibly get a job, the grass is not much greener?
A colleague almost turned down a job offer because he was afraid that he would encounter very similar problems there as here at Allstate, but fortunately he still accepted the offer. It turned out that he would have made the biggest mistake if he had stayed here because of that fear.

I for one am too old to start over. A quarter century at Allstate and in my late 50's I came back for a few more trips around the sun. We were told that our positions would be coming back in spring 2021 and we would retain our pay if we returned. Our area was just a part of cooking the books to keep the shareholders fat and happy. We got the severance and a few thousand on top of it and Allstate covered our medical on the side. I am not a 100% advocate of the company and strongly would advise those younger to go do better than this place can offer. But for me it will do hopefully a handful more years so I can retire. Luckily my job is not a nightmare like a lot at Allstate and they hooked us up when they temporarily cut us. Fortunate and blessed.
