How much more productive are you when you work from home? The very mention that we could return to the office by June makes me sick.
I am much more productive and satisfied ever since I've started working from home, and it is not clear to me why I would have to return to the office if I can do the job even better than when I work in the office.

Why do you need any talent to copy and re-hash the same old, same old. China is great at copying. Don't let Mattel hold you back from working at a bigger and better company.
Same goes for talent here though. You no longer would need to live on the west coast to work on the west coast. So, keeping current talent from working for bigger and better companies by keeping them happy should be a priority. We can all work anywhere....
This whole remote work thing, will just convince the bean counters that shipping jobs to China and India will work. If we don't need to be in the office to collaborate just save on the high US salaries and pay for it on the cheap in India and China. You can hire 5 people there for the cost of 1 US employee.
You can still work from home and go into the office to review samples if you’re strategic and efficient with your planning....(yes boomer I’m rolling my eyes at you)
It really just fits with Mattel. There is no vision. No creativity. No innovation. They could save money on office space and utilities by letting us work at home. Rent some space for periodic in-person meetings with our teams. I am so much more productive and healthy working at home. I'm eating better and getting more sleep. My head is clear, and I experience fewer interruptions. What is not to like about having a happy and productive workforce?
I dread going back to the toxic environment. Al they want to do is micro manage so they can justify their own jobs
I call BS on all the "I am so much more productive" you have to touch feel, play with, look at EP, FEP and PP samples. Not to mention the prototypes before it even gets to that stage. Being in the office where everyone can collectively look at and comment on things is much more effective. If working from home is so effective don't complain when they ship your job to China or India because why does it matter where your job is done if you are remote. Goodman and Sucher was right with Global D & D.
Its a double edged sword and I agree with all of the posts here. The underlying issue is really how much we all internally hate working at Mattel. Not really the fact that you have to go back...
the higher ups need that control and validation for keeping the lights on in the tower to so the investors don’t think they’re squandering more money than they already do. just wait until things get back to normal and the pandemic buying slows and our stock drops down to its average of under $10. They need to see faces in the office so they can pick who to cut to save their own backsides (especially after announcing prices for toys will be going up this week). get back in your barrel lemmings and stop complaining, the company is missing its sacrificial lambs.
don't go back then. tell them you still have virus anxiety. it's California – they can't tell you no about that, it's a human rights issue.
I feel like it might be an ego thing for the higher–ups. They don't care that working from the office reduces productivity, they're more concerned with the performative aspects of office culture.
Imagine you work your way up the ladder to some high level management, only to have Covid19 hit. Suddenly, no more sitting in your nice office, no more parking in the special spot, no more having everyone be extra nice to you all the time as you move about the office, no more captive audience when you feel bored and want to chit chat.
Basically, no more getting to strut about feeling important while people constantly validate how important you are. That's really the key.
But, I guess eventually we'll need to go back to normal, although it does feel a bit like a farmer abandoning his tractor in favor of a mule out of a sense of nostalgia for the "old days".
Couldn’t agree more. I don’t want to deal with people who don’t have enough work to do bothering me in my groove for things they shouldn’t need to ask/be told.
