Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Any other chemical companies that are more desirable?

Pay/culture/benefits...etc

Thinking about jumping ship but unsure what to pursue.

@op – first i gotta wipe the coffee that i spat out offa my keyboard. i'm an experienced hire that came from a major chemical company competitor. if you've only worked @EMCC, you have no idea what the outside world is like: paid much less; working 25+% more; less job security; few perks; austerity that coddled EM folks could never think up. being connected to an oil company makes for one lazy, uncompetitive petrochemical company: born on third base, thinks it hit a stand–up triple.

so, what marketable skills have you developed in your tenure @EMCC? polishing stewardship powerpoints doesn't count for anything in the real world. in fact, i had never heard the word stewardship before i came to EMCC: old company already had web–pages that did that low–value work so the few humans it employed didn't have to. other chemco don't have BS–jobs like coordinator, planner, advisor, etc..

take a look @glassdoor to learn for yourself.
