Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

The worst culture, the worst managers, the worst work environment...

Is there anything TR is best at when it comes to its employees? Because I have no issues coming up with the things the company is the worst at and yet I'm having trouble coming up with a single thing it's best at. I'm at the point where I'm warning people who are interested in applying away from this place.

Sam, I agree. When pressed they'll say things like "the results are finely sliced and sauteed, aggregated into a tidy bundle and then disclosed confidentially for high–level sampling." Okay, "confidential" as to whom? "Between les chefs de cuisine, the executive bundlers et le gerant." They will never use the term "anonymous."

Sam your comments about employee surveys are right on point. I have never seen any productive changes as a consequence of these surveys, so why do they still have them? Gotta love those “anonymous” surveys with those personalised links.

By now it should be pretty clear to anyone paying attention that the surveys are done to identify people who are unhappy in the company and would be least resistant to being terminated or laid off. If they can identify the people who are disgruntled agitators, it's easier to get rid of them. What better way than to trick them into thinking that they're giving feedback to make their work environment better?

I am curious, which of the business units are the worst, most deceptive and weakest management? I know I have my thought on the matter, but would like to see what everyone else thinks and if the issues are solely around 1 or are spread out throughout all.

Re employee surveys, ask yourself why the company has so many of them. Does any good come from them, by this I mean does the information gathered in them result in improving things for employees? What other things do these surveys identify, and what could this information be used for?

@OP+1asbtnrJ Sure – here's one – best at spending money on employee surveys so they can tell us later how happy we all are and how great management is.
