Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Struggling to find motivation

I’ve seen other people write about this over the years and I could never relate – until now. The combination of cuts, worsening working environment, and rampant nepotism has all but ki–––d my drive. What’s the point in trying if I have zero guarantees that I’ll have a job within a week or two? Or that the chances of me getting promoted are nonexistent because I’m not an a–s kisser and I don’t know the right people?

An across the board salary comparison by country is useless. Retirement schemes differ as do healthcare programs. If you live in a country where the government does more for you then expect to be paid less than those in a country where you are responsible for those costs.

Is that an average salary in EM in the US? For how many (work) hours per week?
I know plenty of people (in Europe) who make much less and work very hard!

Many can find that elsewhere. The biggest question is why continue slaving away for exxonmobil for salaries you can obtain elsewhere?

Prisons provide guaranteed employment for convicts. Salary isn’t great but lots of perks.

Salary of $10–15k/month or more is plenty of motivation for most.
