After the layoff, I entered a BN store for the first time as a customer. I can’t say if I felt worse as an employee or as a customer. The tension is equal.
The employees were visibly upset and stressed out, so much so that I could hardly wait to get out of the store. A very unpleasant experience. I do not intend to visit any of their stores anymore.

I went into the independent book store the other day and the employee was telling me, "I can't tell you how many B&N employees come in there looking for jobs so they can leave their horrible management before they close for good."
We are overwhelmed with work and dealing with s––t managers who don’t appreciate us and looking for any reason to burn us. Not a pleasant place to work.
