Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Any Info on Call Center Operations Layoffs?

I had no idea these layoffs were happening. We had a team meeting last week and our supervisor read us a statement from the CEO. I am in call center operations for the medical side, any word on layoffs in this area? I feel like they are telling us now so we are prepared and I’m getting worried. I hate coming to work every day now worrying if I will have a job:( I too saw myself retiring with this company, but now I’m not so sure.

They should know they are causing chaos to valuable employees. People are concerned about their futures during a very dark time. It’s an issue when the CEO is sending jobs overseas while we silently suffer.

What I mean by fishing is they have HR people all over looking for this kind of stuff.

The call center jobs are meant to keep you there for a couple years and burn you out. They just haven’t been replacing people that burn out and leave. Also they have amped up call volume so people have back to back calls every day all day. I just posted my resume everywhere I’m not a call rep literally. Also I posted for jobs and literally 3 of them ended up being canceled. I think they would have done this anyway, Covid is just a good excuse.

I don’t exactly remember what the statement said. We didn’t get a personal email on it, it was just our manager pulling our team into a meeting to read the statement to us. Then she asked us to keep it to ourselves for a couple of days until everyone had a chance to get the info. I asked my manager if this was the first of multiple phases of layoffs but she didn’t seem to have many answers. I do know the statement mentioned the layoffs have something to do with the cost impacts of Covid–19, and that they wanted to put a statement out because the layoffs were being talked about widely. But I hadn’t heard anything until that meeting about anyone being laid off so it makes me worry that it is a warning. I don’t know what to think anymore.

They’re paranoid of getting in trouble for whatever. I think overall people are panicking because of how many layoffs they’ve been doing and literally not telling anyone about it. My understanding is they are moving as many jobs overseas as they can. As long as it keeps working out, they’re going where the cost is less. This is sadly how big business works. We are replaceable to them, especially when David is making millions and sending jobs to India/Philippines, that only gives him more $$$$ in his pockets.
