Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Retirement no longer a certainty

I've seen a few people mention this and realized I've been thinking the same way lately. I used to be certain I'd retire here. I considered this to be a good job with better than average benefits and I had no reason to think I'd be leaving it before retirement. But that's no longer the case. With all the layoffs along with all the other changes, for the first time in more than two decades I'm considering finding a new job (I want to be ready rather than caught unawares if I'm laid off.) And let me tell you, it breaks my heart that it has come to this.

They will force you to leave regardless and find a way to get rid of you through job eliminations. After being there for 20 years you are probably close to 50, so Cigna will get rid of you as soon as you reach the age of 50. This is a guarantee!

Exact same thing here. Two decades here and starting to think about what the world beyond holds. I’m so sad never thought I would leave either.
