Dell Divestiture of Vmware

Hi everyone, I read the news about Dell divesting VMWare. I sort of understand what that means at a high level. Can anyone share what this means from a technology or products perspective? Does this new we can start innovating, may be hire more US talent?

More layoff coming after spinoff, debt and no cash

Sounds like total speculation; no proof, just gut?

Dell is taking $9 billion. 2-3 billion will be from cash on hand, the rest from newly acquired debt.
Will this make vmware more competitive or less? More innovative or more conservative?

What are some things that VMWare can do now we are free from Dell? I thought this means more flexibility in terms of headcounts and projects but I guess I am wrong

Doubtful. It makes no financial sense for the company to hire expensive US talent to maintain old products that are on life support, and good US talent is going to work at more promising growth companies anyway.
