Acceptance of the reality that Allstate is not the same company as it was 5-30 years ago must be understood. It is a very cut and dry company that favors the shareholders and upper management. Customers and rank and file employees are considered to line item expenses in the eyes of Tom Wilson (TW) and Glenn Shapiro (GS.) Allstate will NEVER return to its previous form. At one time it was a badge of honor to be considered an "ALLSTATER." However, now it is a meaningless title. "Allstater" has gone the way of the buggy whip!
If you want to make a difference in the insurance industry, now is the time to seize the opportunity. One thing Allstate did well is its training of the "ALLSTATER'S." Take that training on the road! There are plenty of carriers out there that value their employees. Allstate customers are leaving in droves. The defection is well documented in the earnings numbers that are reported quarterly. Consumers will continue to defect because of the new business model that is being rolled out only cares about bottom line, share price, and dividends. The American consumer is not ignorant. Allstate customers are seeing the reality of what is going on internally when they open their renewals or filing a claim and leaving in droves.
If you work in claims, go to that carrier that cares about its customers. If you want some nostalgia, there is a 25% chance at your new carrier, that the customer you serving was once an Allstate customer. To all of you in sales, take a leap of faith and represent companies that charge a fair price for the Property and Casualty insurance products while getting a full service claims experience. The existing Allstate customer needs your help in navigating the path to other companies that treat their clients with respect.
This abusive era that TW and GS have created will not last forever. Allstate, is slowly being shrunk in all aspects of its business model. The end goal that leadership is creating will enable them to sell Allstate to the highest bidder (Hello Progess-All!). TW is 63 and will be time to hang it up in 2 years. TW wants to line his pockets with money as he sails off into the sunset of his life.
Don't wait too long like the folks in the Allstate Life and Annuities have done. Faith that an efficient direct model is ill conceived (Remember Esurance?) The independent model will fail also much like the Encompass/CNA debacle. Plain and simple, TW and GS DO NOT LIKE AGENTS! However, they have no clue on how to compete in the direct arena. Make a difference now and go out and help people navigate the insurance world. Its ok that the carrier is not the "B@st@rd!zed" Allstate of today. Allstate as we knew it is never coming back.
