Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Recently accepted a job...will I regret it?

I recently accepted an offer as a product owner. I was able to negotiate a large raise over what I currently make. I am typically doing 50+ hours a week. I was under the impression usaa was a good place to work. Am I making a mistake coming here(not that I can do anything about it)? Other sites (glassdoor, indeed) seemed to make it seem like a better place than my other employers have been, but reading things here are painting a much different picture.

Bad decision. Remember the adage pennywise pound foolish. You’re about to live that out in RL.

Hope you are ready to spend thousands of hours working on compliance focus areas vs innovation or product growth.

Just do a linkedin search and see how many (in the hundreds) people that have left in the last 2 years with 5 or more years prior of tenure.

this place sucks.

Think long and hard before joining. It’s an absolute mess, no work life balance. Empty promises made by leadership that are never fulfilled. I joined a little over a year ago and I’m interviewing. Planning to leave as soon as I can.

Milk that place for all the experience you can and then move on. That place is a wreck and people are leaving in high numbers. Like rats on a sinking ship.

From what i can tell USAA is better than State Farm / Allstate, but possible worse than GEICO and Progressive, which from what i can tell, are the two of the least awful to their employees (at least for now) of the major auto insurance companies.
