Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Another sleepless night

Doesn’t management realize we just went through PIP followed by long drawn out “studies” of staffing level then layoff and now we are starting it all again? I’m going to lose my mind. And yes I am actively applying for other jobs.

Last year has taught me that I can’t rely on having a job with any company. Look at how you can stretch your money and have financial freedom.
I am doing everything I can to pay my debt as quickly as possible.

In the same situation as you. I know work is not my everything but i just cannot help feeling that anxitety. The worse thing is now is the assessment period. I notice a lot of koolaid drinking and back stabbing ongoings in attempt to make others look bad infront of the management, even at the slightest things/mistake. Shooting emails here and there, CC-ing the big boss and their bosses.

It feels v tiring a while having to deal with all these pressures and having to watch my back, tip toeing around. I am getting tired and is actively looking out. Have the urge to quit without a job but hesitant because i dont know when i can land a job, given the poor current job situation.

I am sure many of us here are feeling the same way. It does feel like being in an abusive marriage. For those who r struggling mentally like me, i pray that we can see light at the end of the tunnel soon.

Take care fellow EM folks.

It’s not worth your health my friend. Please do what’s best for you and your family will understand. I’m fairly sure you’re not replaceable with your family, but EM will replace you in a heartbeat. Praying for you and all of our friends. Remember, we’re good people, better than this classless leadership we’ve received.

Sleepless? I’m worried as well but don’t let this eat you alive. If you’ve got a healthy savings account and even some semblance of marketable skills you’ll find a job.

2020 (8% NSI), 2021 (8% NSI), and 2020/2021 (15% layoff) sums to 31% global headcount reduction. There will be more sleepless nights in 2021 as the staff reductions (a.k.a. layoffs) continue.
