I like the time put back in my day working from home. I like being able to be comfortable as well. I work hard and do not consume or abuse substances like other WFH people have indicated on this post.

I just like to sleep in, not drive 40 minutes one way to work, and wear clothes that otherwise would not be allowed in an office. It’s comfort for me.

I am just as professional at home as in the office and am insulted that some of you think those of us working from home are drinking or using drugs on company time. Those suspected of and confirmed of doing so do need to be let go. I work without having the TV on or even a radio–I have as structured a routine as ever and my productivity has improved. It's called self discipline.

What the heck. I'll throw my 2 cents in. I picked return to office just to get out of the house and so I was not looked at unfavorably as work from home will not benefit those people in the long run. That much has already pretty well been indicated. If I choose to change to work from home later I have that option as well. My commute is about 30 minutes each way and I need about that much time to unwind from this place so a few bucks in gas each way is worth that to me. Also out of the people I know that were immediately yes on work from home they are in the bottom half of attendance and performance in our department and hybrid or full return to office were in the upper half. One can say coincidence if they want but I'll just say that the attitudes, behavior, and work ethic of the people around me in the office will be much more bearable than it was before and I am most thankful for that. I'll leave it at that. 🤘

I picked hybrid in Hudson. We were told it would look better on us in the future if we did hybrid but it was our choice. My team of 18 was split 10 hybrid 8 work from home. I really think in the future the work from home decisions are going to be used against people from how my manager was presenting and selling the hybrid.

@qxj+1ahqAtw2 it isn't just the WFH folks hurling insults... unless the comments got deleted, there were folks saying "WFH folks only want it to be able to slack off", etc.

My commute is only 15 minutes so I don't mind but I see where work from hone would benefit those with longer commutes. My wife already works from home and the arrangements are not conducive for both of us working from home if there is a choice for one of us so I am gladly going back into the office. It will be good to be together with my team again.

I am actually pro work from home but our area is mandatory hybrid due to poor performance that resulted from working from home.

That being said why is it only the pro work from home people throwing insults at those who choose to return to the office? These posts kind of prove some of the comments that the pro work from home people may not be of the most professional and hard working mindset. What is it to you if people decide it is better for them to work from home? You all got to make your decision to work from home and got your way. So how does someone that has a one hour commute by choice or that is spending more money on gas and insurance and dry cleaning affect you so much that you feel the need to be hateful and throw out insults? Quite frankly a lot of you pro work from home people seem like the lazy complainers and office cancers that none of us wanted to be around in the office before the pandemic.

Sometimes the length of commute is not a choice... With the cost of housing in the suburbs, it can be hard to find affordable places closer than 1 hour away. What a bunch of priviledged asshats that think you can just move closer.

I'm going to take full advantage of the work from home situation and move even further away from this shit hole city and the assholes I won't have to see in the office everyday anymore.

Those of us who work out of the Mart, the commute is easily an hour each way, or more. Even if you live in the city, reliance on public transit makes the day super long. Working from home just makes sense.

I have nothing against people that work from home and am glad allstate gave us both choices. However, I like to separate my personal from professional life. Again as stated in other posts it a CHOICE to have an hour long commute. My commute is 20 minutes which I'm fine with

No offense, but if you want to return to the office, you are a moron. You are joyously celebrating wasting time in the car commuting? Look, it's not my fault your home life sucks. It's not my fault you can't flirt with the office secretary anymore. it's not my fault you can't waste time walking around to cubicles chit-chatting or miss your designated parking space or getting a fancy lunch. Working from home is a blessing, if you are intelligent. Think of all the wasted time at an office. Think about all of the negative interactions with your managers that by in large now get avoided. Granted, it is nice to see people face to face, learn to use a freaking Web-Cam you buffoons. You people are the reason we need more layoffs. Think of all the mileage you save not commutting? All the wear-n-tear foregone on your car. Your insurance is lower because of working from home. You are savings THOUSANDs of dollars working from home if you add it all up, not to mention the opportunity cost of the time saved.

Looking forward to returning to the office. With hubby already working from home and two kids (one college, one high school) schooling from home internet already stretched and cannot afford the business package. Plus too much going on here. The office will actually be more peaceful and more adequate for full focus on work.

Enough is enough. I'm a Field Appraiser. WFH is a nice occasional option for bad weather, if you're slow or not feeling 100% but not everyday. Definitely not for everyone. Not everybody has the same personal situation. ,commute situation, etc. Some can do the exact type of work from home. I cannot.

This is the original poster. To go off the last comment I agree. To my knowledge there are no offices in traffic heavy cities like los Angeles, New York, etc so I don't know why commute is such a big deal and when they live an hour away that was their choice. You always have an option to move closer

I live close to the office so commuting was never an issue. I never got why people that say there are so many jobs out there took a job an hour or more away from home and then had the gall to complain about the commute that they chose.

Work from home was meh to me after a while. I would rather keep the work in the office where it belongs and keep regular life at the home.

Interestingly enough, most of the pro-office posts in this thread were made by the same person pretending to be multiple different people. Why do you think that is?

COVID protocols, annoying coworkers, constant noise, hours commuting... I fail to see how all of that outweighs some of the complaints about working from home.

We were told that returning to the office or working from home was our choice but they also said choosing work from home would not be a good look on us going forward. Would they use that choice towards deciding who to layoff in the upcoming layoffs?

I'm looking forward to going back into the office as I know for myself I will be more focused on my work than I was at home. I will admit I got too comfortable and complacent working from home all this time. I know my performance and output will hit that stride that was my norm before the pandemic and that I lost. Also I think folks being back in the office will knock some of that negativity that a lot of us swelled on while at home. The office will fresh our outlooks and will likely even improve morale.

Most blessed to be going back into the office with dear friends and colleagues. We are all excited to get back to lunches together and fellowship together after being apart all this time. We are all going back in together a team again! And thank you Allstate for all the hard work to get Hudson and other centers back up and running as normal.

Never thought I'd say this 8 months ago but I think it is time to get back to an actual desk in an actual work place.

WFH never really took off for me. I just couldn't get past working where I live and separating the two. There needs to be separation for me. So put me in the happy to return to office column. 😊

The people looking forward to going back to the office are lifers afraid if change, the exact reason Allstate it's so far behind the rest of the industry.

If you enjoy commuting, having to put up with COVID protocols, and think being the office is more productive, you are not people I'd want to hire or work with.

I wouldn't say I am looking forward to it but I just can't stomach working from home anymore. Would rather be in the office. The grass wasn't greener for me working from home that's for sure both from a mental and lack of professionalism standpoint.

Looking forward to returning to the office. I need to get my work life balance more separated. It is not healthy for me to live and work in the same place. Like having the option if sick or snow storm though.

Count me in! I am worried a bit about how it will be with COVID protocols but going hybrid. I just can't be stuck in the house all the time. Fed up with work from home.

Me definitely. Work from home is a nice option to have in case of bad weather and other issues but full time work from home is not for me. It was fun for a few months but got old pretty quick. Looking forward to going back. They offered hybrid or work from home options and I asked for and got approved for full time office.
