Physical stores will see a lift?

This was said by someone too optimistic, that physical stores could regain momentum once the corona virus is under control. I do not believe that this will ever happen again, because there has simply been a complete paradigm shift, but anything is possible. What do you think, is there any hope for BN that its stores will see a lift after COVID is restrained?

City stores will see a lift as people want a shopping experience at least for a little while. Neighborhood store will remain flat though.

I disagree.
The BN brand no longer has the loyalty once associated with it.

B&N will continue to close stores at lease end, if in a viable market may open a smaller store, this will happen over many years. There will definitely be less stores.

Stores will always be wanted by consumers, however most retailers will contract number of stores and the square feet of their stores.

Consumers will shop Omni channel and the best retailers will embrace that want.

Bookstores will always be around and it’s B&N’s plan to do the same. The plan is just starting and the pandemic was not good for sales and profits however B&N is owned by a company that has deep pockets and wants to see a return on their investment of B&N.

The transition of B&N is just starting really and they can reinvent and at some point become a great retail choice for book lovers again.

The Brand has great loyalty to this day. And many dedicated book loving managers and booksellers.

Some of the best people I’ve worked with in a long retail career spanning many different retail sectors.

Think about five years from now every store that re—swill be newly designed and remodeled will look nothing like the older stores and will be the norm. It will be an entirely new experience.

Shopping has changed forever. People are no longer hanging around in stores. Especially ones that are not being cleaned properly.
