Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Moving within GTS

I understand that since GTS is part of spin-off therefore IBM doesn't allow GTS member moving to business unites (such as GBS) that will stay with IBM. I'm part of GTS BU and my question is can I move to another department within GTS? Another department has posted an opening and I like to apply but not sure if HR will let me move.

I will appreciate the input. Thanks

It was communicated a couple of days ago that if you are chosen to go to Kyndryl, but decline, you will be resigning from IBM. I am optimistic. The grass is rarely greener on the other side, but Kyndryl is an unknown at this point. I'll take an unknown rather than stay at IBM. With all the apathy, bureaucracy, poor morale, it's a miracle we get anything done these days. It says a lot about a company when you replace front line HR with a chatbot.

I like how the minions in GTS are not allowed to look for any job outside of Newco but just saw an announcement that Robert Watson, The Technology Consulting & Implementation Services (TC&IS) leader is taking a new role in GBS as a Lead Client Partner. Seems like a step down. Humm, wonder why he gets to move to a new job staying with IBM. If Newco is going to be so great why would he leave? Getting a bad feeling here.

Good riddance all I ever see from GTS is trying to destroy our Systems business and making clients angry burning up all their cash for x86 junk that doesn't work or gets hacked

The same manager’s who screwed up this division will be in charge of the NewCo company. Old blood , old thinking and mass confusion. Nothing will change as other companies are far ahead of anything IBM can try and reinvent. Get out now !

Yes, if you’re in India. No headcount available in the US.

"... ditching Lotus Notes and moving to MS Outlook"????
I know for a fact that that was suppose to happen a full year ago, at least. Is SAMETIME still around, too?? Slack was supposedly deployed last year also to replace it.

The big blue monster can't seem to get out of its own way sometimes.

First and foremost is, your manager needs to give you a release date.
Without a release date the other hiring managers can't hire you.

Got word they're ditching Lotus Notes and moving to MS Outlook. Great first step. Wish IBM would catch on with coming into the 21st century.
