Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel is not as bad as everybody make it seem

We're certainly in a better position then we were in two or three years ago. For as long as layoffs are not happening on a monthly basis as they did back then, I'm satisfied. Good pay, decent benefits, and interesting work are enough to keep me content. That's as much as I can ask of any job.

Decent pay (could be better to get better talent). Very good health benefits. Sabbatical (4w/8w). 2mo bonding leave for both male and female paid. Assuming you don't have a dusch nozzle of a manager you can work out a work life balance (i've had both sides of this coin).

Downside, its really hard to get promoted. You have to be patient and play a little politics and have a manager to go to bat for you. They don't cut really bad performers nearly fast enough and peanut butter (why does he get a 2% and i get a 3% when im doing literally 4x the work?). Diversity and inclusion lower the bar on hiring tbh. I'm all for equal opportunity but don't lower the bar on talent to get there.

Oh yeah it's not bad until something bad happens to you, then you're screwed.

@2cnb but it's free Starbucks coffee! You can't beat that!

There is so much baggage in decades old IA64 based designs, that it's very hard to squeeze out more performance from one product to the next. It's just a matter of time when ARM based server silicon takes over. Process technology is also at least one generation behind. You'd have to be really optimistic to see a brighter future for Intel.

Yeah free coffee sure makes up for poor pay, horrible management and no future.

You forgot the daily free fruit (one piece only), choice of toilets, and 2% annual raise. Who could ask for more?

happy to hear it works well for you
in fact, it is true not everyone feels the same
there are many toxic cases and INTEL is not doing good
but there are also positives sides
Biz sides definitely not as good as before
