VMWare Cloud... DOA (dead on arrival)

I get VMWare's need to pivot and move beyond the DC (especially now that EUC/VDI is slowing down and new network features like LB and dFW are not selling), but who is going to look to disjointed hypervisor company for application modernization? Doesn't VMWare realize they are a couple years too late to get into this space? In addition, why would Enterprise customers look to them for the tools they need? Tanzu hasn't had any real success to date. Clearly VMWare doesn't understand Cloud or Cloud Native Apps and I can't imagine DevOps teams are dying to use VMWare tools instead of all of the other proper toolsets already available. This looks like someone trying to get some Cloud attention without understanding Cloud

Launched a week or so ago and many are already trying to put it behind us. That rebranding attempt was stale, lacked true substance, and is completely unnecessary.

I will say the same thing about Horizon VDI Cloud on Azure. It is already dead in its current form and will be dead on arrival in its 2nd version which is now in its 3rd year of alpha/ beta phase.

VMware cloud is a desperate attempt to stay relevant and to extend the life of the hypervisor. VMware cloud is a half baked lasagna that was assembled by people who read a cook book.
