That’s the only reason I’m still here and I know I’m not the only one. However, I am more and more afraid that I will not even get it. I just hope that the rumor that they might run out of severance in the next round of layoffs was devised by someone from the top, to encourage more people to leave the company voluntarily. At Allstate, anything bad is possible.

Never go on the assumption that severance is a sure thing. It is not required to be paid and there has already been a lot of talk on this board abd outside of this board that if offered severance will be payable to only employees with 5 years or more tenure. Also it is heavily taxed so not the windfall that people think even with long tenure
Also you have the recently revealed plans of mass terminations for not meeting impossible metrics and the backdated manipulation and revision if the occurrence guidelines that will put many unsuspecting employees on attendance UNs or attendance terminations. All the above means no severance and in many states no unemployment. Do you really want to risk being victimized by these sneaky and underhanded tactics to hold out for a severance that may or may not be there? This company tries to make it so you lose in any way and they win in any way.
I would operate on the assumption that you aren't getting a severance. If that means starting to look for new work now, or at least within enough time prior to whenever the layoffs are predicted to occur, get your resume out there and get that ball rolling.
Word of advice to everyone potentially affected by these layoffs, when looking and applying for a new gig, it ALWAYS looks better when applying for new jobs to be currently employed. Having to explain gaps in employment is never ideal.
If you're lucky, you might be able to swing it so that the new role doesn't start until after the layoffs occur, and in which case, if you do get let go, you get severance and don't have to sit unemployed for an unknown amount of time. either way, you're not waiting on the unknown.
