Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Medical coverage

How many of us are basically held hostage here by medical coverage? It s—s but I can't just leave and risk losing health insurance in the middle of a pandemic. That is literally the only thing that's keeping me from walking out each day. If I had a viable alternative, I'd be gone already.

I agree with what othet people are posting. The health insurance with Allstate is garbage. For my family I paid 460 a pay check for insurance. I took a new Job and the starting pay was 10k less then what I made with Allstate and my take home pay is the same with my new job. My new employer insurance costs me 120 a paycheck for my family and I. My suggestion is to look for another Job that has health benefits.

The way they tax the holy Hell out of severance (total taxed plus 401k deduction was over 40%) it is not the chunk of change you may think. Also there had been more and more word that the severance plan for 2021 is not what has been standard in the past. There have been many meetings between the powers that be about this.

Agreed, but I have 15 years invested, so it's worth sticking around for a while to make sure.

That's a decent chunk of change.

@1art+1aeot8bT I wouldn't count on that severance

My excuse is waiting for possible severance. That is the only reason.

If I find out they are going to stiff us on that, DUCES!

Allstate has terrible medical for an insurance company. You could get a part-time job at Starbucks and get better medical than Allstate offers. You're just making excuses why you won't look for a new gig.

It’s not like Allstate is the only company that offers medical. Honestly the medical they offer is not even that good.

The insurance s—s here so I think you are using a bad excuse to justify still working here.

Depending on where you live, many companies don’t offer medical.

However, there are remote jobs at bigger companies (Progressive, Aetna, Humana, etc.) that are work from home that have medical. If you go to Indeed or LinkedIn, search “remote” in jobs and look for bigger companies. You will find some. Good luck!

Most full time jobs offer insurance as does the state. This is not really a good reason not to look elsewhere. Just more excuses.
