Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Meeting on 4/28 HealthNet

Does anyone know what the big meeting is for on 4/28? Title (WH&IN) with one HR person listed.

To the people that were recently laid off,was your layoff email titled the same way?

Eh, in regards to our beloved Father Frawley:
1) He had no problem taking the vow of pover ..... $7M payout, along with the part time Board seat (that paid him for another year).

2) Fidelis had a shell company they used in their 'not for profit' approach. If this board has taught you anything, it's to not believe every corporate PR stance.

If you were about to get laid off, it would not be announced in a general or any other meeting. Centene dropped news of the 3,000 (& 1500) on CNET only the day before in an inconspicuous headline about quarterly earnings. My Zoom meeting invite came not even 24 hours later, with the Director of my department starting it out by saying, “As was announced on CNET, the company is eliminating 3,000....” or words to that effect. We heard one might be coming at some point, but that Clinical Services would be safe. IOW, totally blindsided. So was my Supervisor.

I hadn’t heard one Fidelis Care NY employee voice that Centene taking us over 2+ years ago was a positive move. Quite the contrary, everyone complained for various reasons including the marked increase in medical benefit premiums, elimination of quarterly merit bonuses, and the ensuing major IT issues. Our private not-for-profit entity, Fidelis’ mission statement focused on compassion helping the underserved, when it was founded by our beloved Father Frawley. Not the almighty dollar from a publically traded conglomerate. Reading these posts, it certainly seems to be a common sentiment of those who were impacted by their multiple M&As. Cutthroat and disrespectful..

Woodland hills is over. Too expensive relative to other states for salaries and taxes. California is a pro employee state.

2nd phase of Centene layoffs.

Mine meeting invite was with a Senior director who’s position was four levels up from mine. I went to my senior manager and asked was I being laid off for which he replied , “did hr contact you?” ... I immediately packed up and left for the day and called out the rest of the week. The senior director and HRBP started leaving messages on my cellphone like it was a casual conversation... I eventually called back and was laid off over the phone 😞

With the hundreds of employees laid off in July 2020 (like myself) the meetings invites were sent by the heartless department directors as a Zoom “check in” meeting. Shady as can be!

I heard sometime in May. Wish Someone could find out the department’s details. I hope I’m on the next round whenever that is.

I hope this help some! I was with Centene over 5 years! Totally blind sided, had no clue Centene was laying off! I received an email from the department director for a zoom meeting, didn’t pay attention to the subject line(sorry) I thought it was just the norm plan update or whatever. There was the director and one HR person. I was pretty much told in the most nonchalant, emotionless way ever my position was being eliminated, (I felt she felt good laying me off) when my last day would be, my badge wouldn’t work, don’t go in the office, my things would be mailed, (they treat you like you did something wrong and being fired) HR went over my severance and bonus! Call lasted maybe 10 minutes and that was it. Those that are worried, scared, walking on eggshells, DON’T be! I know it’s better said, but I came from a department full wicked, nasty, lazy leadership who showed favoritism on a regular!! They were very jealous women and didn’t know how to keep their personal feeling out the office! So me being laid off was a blessing!! You get a severance package, I still got my bonus, they still have to cover our cobra 100%! (New ACT passed) and you get unemployment plus additional unemployment! To me me that was really a blessing! I don’t have to deal with them, being over worked and under paid, dealing with the fakeness etc! So know it’s wonderful after Centene! Now those that are left are scared! Kissing butt! Over worked!! Work load double with no pay increase! They did me a favor hunny!

Legacy Centene called individual meetings with titles that wouldn't have given you reason to suspect that you were being laid off. Mine contained the Director, Manager and an HR person. I felt like I was s—er punched.
