Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Put the customer first. Invent. And be patient.

These simple principles served another company now eating IBM's lunch very well.

Looks like you need a place for D players to relax. People tell me that in Silly Con Valley, that place is Microsoft. I guess IBM beats Microsoft.. but looks like TPTB is ripping it out.

AWE has horrible WLB. Suggest doing research with some employees and on the internet before you think about AWS. They pay more but WLB is in the toilet.

Amazon is hiring! Take some classes! Apply! Forget IBM.

IBM - Cut Cost, Off-Shore, Layoff (repeat).

I've spoken with a recruiter at AWS and Amazon doesn't want to hire any IBMers because they believe the IBM culture isn't client-driven anymore. They don't want to go through the process of reconditioning an ex-IBMer.

OP here.

AWS, now a cloud services giant (to whom the principles above are attributed) closed out 2020 with more than $13.5 billion in annual operating profits, which are responsible for more than 63% of Amazon's entire operating profits for last year. Annual 2020 AWS revenue was $45.3 billion, up nearly 30% year-over-year.

Contrast this to the IBM where I once worked: "Put IBM first. Buy companies, slash investments in innovation. Always chase this quarters revenue."

It is not that complicated IMHO. Compare and contrast IBM with AWS. It is very sad to experience this!

Be patient? Spoken like a true jerk.

Don't forget to put your personal pronouns on all correspondence!
