I would advise anyone considering PRP in the future to NOT take the work part time for 6 months option - rather take work 3 months and then get paid three months, or just retire period.
The work part time is a fools errand as you inevitably end up working more than part time— which is exactly what “leadership” is banking on.
Every conscientious person who took the part time PRP that I know regretted it. Now if you are one of the loafers go for it half of zero is zero, so no worries for you.

For those of you who will be asked to train a replacement, don’t bother. If your slacker coworkers haven’t bothered to learn their job by now, just say they are fully qualified and trained - dust your palms off and exit stage left.

"In between the larger separation programs, Ford usually offers a less lucrative early voluntary retirement plan where you work 9 months to train your replacement and then have the other 3 months off paid with benefits. That seems more plausible to me."

Is that plan currently being offered? Anybody recall what the acronym for it is?

Since 1995 or Ford 2000 Ford seems to go through a re-org every 18 months. They live on past laurels. Expect more reductions as we migrate away form ICE to EVs...

Given the valuation to debt ratio 49 billion/161 billion Ford will need to do something.
They cannot continue with having for every 3 dollars in valuation, 7 dollars of debt.

Ford is in denial about its sustainability.
They did not take common sense actions such as ceasing company 401k match, and eliminating the bloat in management ranks and GSR ranks. Instead they amped up the PR wing claiming and jiggered the accounting. While they should of been fixing the foundation, they were hanging new wallpaper and window dressings.

In fact there have been promotions and expansion of the management ranks during this time. In addition unnecessary hiring of new employees, contracts for unnecessary contractors and purchased services were approved, purchases of unnecessary hardware and software has occurred.
All told multiple millions of dollars p-ss-d away in the last year. All the while the people responsible for the waste say what is 10 million to a company worth 39 billion? So now you see how over the years we accumulated so much debt.

There will be no layoffs (Ford direct) this year. There were none last year (Ford direct). My understanding from the Return to 10 meeting was that they exceeded the numbers needed though the VIP last year.

In between the larger separation programs, Ford usually offers a less lucrative early voluntary retirement plan where you work 9 months to train your replacement and then have the other 3 months off paid with benefits. That seems more plausible to me.

Besides the re-org is still continuing and until the dust settles I don't believe that they will not be looking for reduce heads (Ford direct) any further for the near future.
