Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Will we be able to get severance again?

If we were laid off prior and come back to the company in another role do we get severance again if laid off again. Or is it a one time thing per employee? I was able to save up and not use all the severance other than the prorated portion that I am going to have to pay back in order to return (which is about half of the one year severance amount). I was also able to draw unemployment and receive the extra $300 pandemic federal amount per month so the severance wasn't touched and just put into my savings account.

I was just offered another position within Allstate after being laid off in November. It is a totally different department and actually more money. I just don't feel like starting over with a new company at this point after being with Allstate for 14 years prior. But I do not want to take it unless I can get severance too. I can get unemployment again if I am in this job for 4 months too before being laid off again.

I agree. Only the weakest souls and those who have very little confidence in themselves will slink back to a company the felt they weren't worth keeping for another lower paying and lower level job that they will probably be laid off from in a year anyways.

Well if that's the case I guess we know who the company will lay off next. The poor unconfident sots who felt their only options were to crawl back to the very company that needlessly threw them out into a pi-s poor job market during a global pandemic. They won't have to pay them severance.

Quite frankly if these people are stupid and weak enough to crawl back to this immoral sewer of a company then they deserve whatever they get (or don't get in this case).

I would not count on it.

That’s a great question to ask your recruiter. Ask in email so you have the answer in writing.

You will not be eligible for severance again. I had this exact situation happen.
