Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Printer usage

So many comments on here about printing stuff to look busy. In my group management was always harping on us to print less. IT even has a dashboard where you can see how much you printed. They use it when people resign as well to make sure you aren’t trying to print everything before you leave. I’ve never seen anyone be successful by printing and power walking. Put your head down and get work done. Try to control and change what you can for the better. If you are miserable and can’t change things go work elsewhere. I don’t understand why people don’t either do what they can to change things and live with the things they don’t like until they do change or leave. People seem more willing to divorce their spouse than walk away from ExxonMobil.

@1ltg - you're absolutely right about Clinton and CSR. The same is true (albeit to a lesser extent) for the Product Development groups who transferred up from Paulsboro.

If you believe this is the way to get ahead you are a fool.

And somehow you don’t think the problem is you. If everyone acts like you what hope is there? Leave and add value to society instead of being a negative drag.

Whatever brown noser! IT doesnt care or can dictate what you print! Tomorrow I will print out the same Excel sheet 5 times! One copy for everyone in the BS meeting I'm attending! When I print out all the copies I'm sprinting to the printer with the look of despair on my face! I pray and hope all the managers see me! IT will do nothing because they can do nothing! They are overhead! At my BS meeting I will write like a mad man on my notepad every word that comes out a manager mouth! This will make them feel "powerful" and important and that's why I WONT get PIPed this year! I bring value to them!

The topics such as counting numbers of pages to print that you wonderful guys discuss here are at par to the touted topics and real work done at our Corporate Strategic Research (CSR) in Clinton, NJ.

A bunch of failed PhDs hired and work under utterly failed management to manage and execute projects that are intellectually as challenging as counting rocks but are all given fancy names. Biofuels, algae, life cycle management, remember some?

Printing is very closely monitored. It is true.
And anything that is printed is imaged also, for occasional investigations.
Mostly just counting the pages and associating with your id.

And how can you clean your cookies so fast for down-voting?
What's the trick there?

One way to avoid excessive printer usage is to go back to using manual typewriters and carbon paper. Can't believe no one has suggested it yet.

Printing, walking, and my personal favorite, scribbling on my note pad.
