Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Whats truly going?

OK , One minute I am being told that the offices are opening back up in Sept and staff will be expected to return to office, in different phases. But yet across the board everyone has been assigned management in other states. For example I am in Louisiana and my management is Florida. A coworker in another department manager is in Texas, and another coworker in a different department manager is in Missouri. We are remote, some of us were remote wayyy before covid and some went home after covid. How is going back in office suppose to work out? Also , if they are laying off more people and shutting offices down, including the ones in Florida and Missouri etc , then why are there talks of bringing people back in office, and also why are they integrating the systems, and training us on new systems ie Truecare?? Why are they hiring for certain positions, and why do I see new people joining my team as we speak. None of this is making any sense!

Even if your reporting line is in a different state, it might be that they want you working from an office near you ("near" as defined by management could be 50 miles away) and not WFH. It's the cubie culture. I'd think the only exceptions would be field sales/service/clinical staff with territories nowhere near an office. No special knowledge here...just trying to read tea leaves.

All of the ambiguity is intended to throw line staff off balance so that they are always in a state of change. But the changes are chaotic, and not meant to be productive. During this process staff become increasingly fearful, and managers exploit vulnerabilities; they then terminate as many as possible so they don’t have to extend the benefits of lay off. Take for example the disciplinary procedures; once someone is on a last chance agreement there is no redemption; you will be fired for anything and everything. Worst corporate managed care company in the country.

Work in Tampa Florida and I would be more then happy for them to lay me off, provided I get a sufficient severance package. I am through with the politics here.

You are so on point with your questions, because I have been wondering the same. I am in Texas and all of my management team is in Florida.. I have never worked in an office. I started out as a remote worker. How will I go into the office and who will I report to? But I guess they will figure it out if they lay off and close down Florida. I guess i would be laid off too.. Who knows, and I hate the unknowing...
