Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

HR looking at my LinkedIn. Is this it?

I don’t work anywhere close to HR and don’t know anyone in HR. Just got a LinkedIn notification that someone from HR looked at my profile.

Is this my sign or am I overthinking? Tbh at this point I’m over Dell anyway.

If your employee agreement had a non compete section then read it to see what you signed up to regarding new employment.

@6ljc+1aXbm5Me - I admit I don't have a LinkedIn account because they are on the same level as Facebook as far as data harvesting. With that in mind how would your profile signal you are looking for a job? Are people that naive to post that or is LinkedIn that uncouth to show your private searches? Lastly, are you saying people who got laid off have to abide by Dell's ethics office - that would be some pretzel logic!

They check to see if employees are looking for a new job. They also check to see if folks they laid off got a new job but did not report it to ethics officer per employee agreement.

A possible reason for this could be that you just happen to have a friend or co-worked you work with at Dell that you connected with on LinkedIn who has a friend or connection that looked over your profile to see if they should connect. I have had this happen in Linkedin, where people I have no connection with want to connect with me on Linkedin because we know someone in common.

Dont overthink it. They could be angling you for a promotion or a sideways step. There are plenty of reasons HR would read a profile.

Dell checks and snoops at everything, it is always lurking behind your back. Beware the dog!

Well seeing as you know everything then not sure why you are posting questions on here. Feel safe you are so checked out. FYI, a lot of checked out folks were let go in September 2020.

What do you mean by browsing history? As in, what I Google on my work laptop? I literally only use the work laptop for work.

I'm more inclined to think it is your browsing history. When I was there, even if you had local admin privileges you could not delete your browsing history.

Better remove your linkedin profile. Its useless in job search anyway and exposes you to the risk of bad reviews etc.
