Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Happy Ford SRD Day!

2 yrs ago today, Ford accelerated their current day problems...by getting rid of experienced and "older" talent, and replacing them with younger workers and yes men and women who obviously don't have the same aptitude. Ageism at its finest. Brown nosing at its best.

I quite enjoy hearing about all the quality and other issues today.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

The clock is ticking for JF. He has had the keys since October. Company needs product people want. He came from Toyota so he knows product development. This BS that he is marketing don't buy that. Lee Ioococa and Bob Lutz were also marketing guys. They understood what people wanted. True car guys. It's your turn to step up JF. Planting trees and sucking up to the president does not sell product. Your choice follow Bill Jr. Who is not a leader or charismatic. Or follow Allan.a proven leader. Clock is ticking.

Happy SRD day indeed.
I celebrate it annually. 9 month pay and a swift kick out the door.
Put a sad face on in the office, then did the freedom dance in the parking lot.
Traveled for a year, then found a remote job during COVID paying significantly more than Ford salary, without the Ford BS.

Ok I won’t lie, I find it super humorous to hear what a shxtshow the department I was in has become after all of the age 50+ tech spec LL6 were SRDed. And it was hilarious when they tried to get two of us to come back as contractors. Finally after two years they have gotten the message that I and others will not answer their work related questions for free, they made their bed.

Ford results speak for themselves. People see thru the constant media blitz to attempt to paper over reality.

We are still paying the price for this foolish action and will continue to do so.

At least you don’t hear about the faulty fiesta/focus auto trans, or the 1.2 eco boost engine failures anymore. Whew!

As a supplier, we saw the talent leave and the baton passed to people in engineering and purchasing who held themselves in exalted opinions while we were amazed at the negative impact of their many foolish decisions.

Not an accident that Ford is, and will continue to be, the most recalled brand in Automotive.

The quality issues are from the emphasis on CAE over building prototypes and testing. Purchasing did their damage also. There was very little impact due to older workers leaving the company.

Under our previous Jim, prototypes were deemed too expensive to build. It was thought that our CAE models had the complexity to find issues before prototypes were fabricated. Unfortunately you need lots of real world data to develop reliable models.

They will eventually get their but for now the consumer will pay the price in recalls.

May 15, 2019 was my SRD day. I was called on my drive home from work that evening. Took the call around 6:30. Their only concern was how soon I could surrender my badge.
