Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Not fair at all

Heard thru the grapevine that I’m probably on the PIP list. What sucks is that there’s a couple of older guys in our group who are not even close to my skill level. I’ve been told that they’re NRE and therefore pretty much untouchable. Why is this ?

What did you think would happen? If you didn’t realize the math would make people go down I am concerned you should be NSI. It is a freaking forced distribution people. Someone has to be in each bucket. Until the company starts growing again this is the new norm.

I don't necessarily agree. I heard lots of good ideas from working level folks that got dismissed by senior managers for BS reasons. There are lots of people that your statement would apply to, but I think there are lots of exceptions as well

Yesterday’s ranking session SUC! Most of my people went down. Some you’d never thought - good people.
It’s going to be another bloodbath.
The bottom is falling off this clown car.

To anyone that has been at XOM 10+ years you bear some responsibility for the current state of the company. Either you didnt care and didnt offer any suggestions for improvement or you brown nosed your way to keep your job. Either way you are an enabler and an accomplice to the current leadership. XOM needs to get rid of the stale water!

Sorry if you get Pipped. NRE are ‘untouchable’ because XOM wants to avoid age discrimination lawsuits. It’s a valid concern for XOM since it can be argued they fired someone in order to avoid finding retirement benefits. Not saying it is fair but once you are NRE, you will appreciate the protection. Once they are RE, they are fair game. Good luck to you!
