I don't really understand how some people don't see it. Racism in the workplace isn't overtly throwing around prejudice terms. It's out-of-touch executives making selfish and privledged decisions. "Diverse" layers of management only providing opportunities to subordinates who match their respective race - not out of spite or hatred - but out of insecurity and tribalism. Making Black employees feel as if the company is bending over backwards for them when in reality its all talk, or insinuating the Asian employee doesn't deserve opportunities because "asians are smart anyway, so they don't have to work as hard as 'so and so'". B.S justifications stemming from racist undertones that guide insecure people to make biased decisions around promotion and advancement. While one type of person is seen as observant and patient, I'm seen as "shy". While one type of person is driven and educated, I'm seen as someone who "is naturally good at math" (yeah, I had a boss say despite the fact that I'm not that great at math).
I know what some may be thinking....great, good for you bro, people think you're good at math.. it must be terrible.
But these are the types of attitudes and stereotypes that subconsciously run through large organizations with AIG being a big culprit.
