Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Did anyone really think WFH would be permanent?

I don’t quite understand those who were convinced that WFH is a permanent, not a temporary solution. I can't tell whether these are the people who thought that the pandemic would last much longer, or that Chase would suddenly become modern, visionary bank ...

has anyone’s productivity gone down while WFH? If anyone it’s increased. And it doesn’t make sense since many teams are spread across the US, most of my meetings will continue to be on zoom. And if my meetings are on zoom, WFH sounds like a better option. I don’t mind the staggered shift, but don’t like the mandate part of having to come back

I hear those folks in Houston will have an option to move to Plano, or get a package.

I'm eager to get back to the office. I cannot wait to see my adult day care managers once again! HR is going to have a field day with all of the code of conduct reports that will be coming in.

Those who are so 'excited' to go back must be managers, micro managing and stressing people out.

I can't wait to return to the office and collaborate. Zoom isn't the same thing. It worked for a bit but it's old now.

I have WFH for 20 years and will never have a job that is not WFH. I work in health insurance and if they ever did away with it, they would have to lay me off and I would go elsewhere. I cannot stand the lack of vision with organizations that don't WFH where you can. Prior to the pandemic, my VP of Finance said he was demanding folks return to the office if you have direct reports. All about visually seeing and interacting with your direct reports. Funny thing, my boss does not have any direct reports that are in MN. We are all over the US. Then they wanted her to go to an office 30 miles away when there was one within walking distance but no desk for her. She was so upset she was saying time to look for another job. My VP was upset too. I said when does this take place? 1st of April 2020. The announcement was summer of 2019. I was like well I would not worry. They will change their mind. She said not so sure, he sounded so strict about seeing what people are doing. Yeah, because he is a micromanager, and managers that don't trust their employees need to look in the mirror because I bet they are the abusers and if they abuse oh everyone else must too. February 2020 and talk of Covid and then he came out and said everyone needs to stay home until we get through this. Then he had to get those in offices home and that was a difficult task. Finally, in mid-April 2020 we had 99% working from home including him, our other executives, and our CEO. Just a few Indian folks due to Internet issues. Four months go by and we had our 2nd quarter results update and someone asked about returning to the office when the pandemic is over. His response made me laugh because on our company blog I posted the reason why WFH is the smartest choice overall. It was as if he pasted my blog into his speech. I wrote a bill that I sent to AOC because I figured she would be the biggest mouth to get it out there. My bill addresses WFH benefits including a reduction in stress and I have researched stress leads to mental issues and mental issues lead to dr-g abuse. I showed how WFH could help the environment twenty-fold. I should how families could spend more time together and we could bring that family unit back together. I should how employees and employers save so much money. So, Chase, you are not smart when it comes to the need to micromanage your people by bringing them back into the office. But hey, what do I know. I only own my own business, work corporate, and have a PhD in Business.

Don't be an a**, we knew it wasn't permanent, we're still figuring out this pandemic and Btto seems rushed! This model of being in the office is soooo 1900's , with the advent of technology and stability of internet connections hybrid models are inevitable. Productivity is waaaay up, we've hired 8 people in our department, 1 left for a different field in another city to be closer to family, 2 got promoted and we're hiring 3 more. Didn't need to be in the office for that!

Instead of people moaning about returning to the office, you'd better hope that you have a job to return to. I was wfh since March of last year and begging to get back to the office. Instead, my job was slashed so I have nothing to return to. Look at it like that.
