Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

End of current work from home schedule.

Is the current plan for the end of work from home still on target for mid June?

Why don’t they also give you a special payment to handle the unexpected costs of working from home. You know, bicycle repair parts, brisket, charcoal, wood for smoking, fishing equipment, etc.

All the complaints! The edict to work with your direct supervisor until the September deadline is awesome. Treating us like professionals to be accountable. I don’t say this often but I really appreciated the approach.

This whole thing with return to the office policies reminds me of parents who want to be their children’s friends instead of making tough decisions as parents. What a bunch of limp leaders.

I think wanting to work on your golf game or work on home improvement projects is reason for a later phase in date.

I think everyone should get the phase approach without question. Unless you are sick or have a medical reason all should be required back. This is going to breed contempt towards people abusing the policy to stay at home. If never fails that people will try to take advantage of it and be allowed to by management. So do we get to pick or own phase in date, and how many people with children will take the whole summer to WFH. I don't blame them, but it should apply across the board, and those without kids should just be able to say they are not comfortable coming back to the office yet.

Could it get any more complicated than a phased hybrid approach? I suppose for some this is beneficial.

There has been no official announcement as to June 1. We were told we’d get 14 days notice so I’d expect to hear something about it today or tomorrow. Not much time for a parent to make non-refundable daycare plans. Oh the anxiety!!

Any one heard gossip?

Does anyone even listen to Dora? Texas as a whole had appx 1000 new cases and 60 deaths yesterday. Since Harris County is a democratic city she will look at New York, LA, and Austin for guidance. Maybe Oxy will move everyone to The Woodlands (Montgomery County) where things are not as tight as Dora's Village.

Dora The Explorer still has the Harris County COVID threat level set to Level 1- Severe Threat, so what do you think?

I suspect that Oxy's decisions are being driven more by the legal threat level and less by the health threat level.

Either way, you clearly don't work here so any decision has zero impact on you OP.

If you don’t know, clearly you don’t work at OXY. Do the rest of us a favor and pi-s off.
