It’s shocking to me that no one here has mentioned the racism that’s goes on at Centene specially from leadership! Are we all blinded by conditioning?! It’s it the years of keeping our heads down?! How does it look that you may not even realize it’s happening? I’ll give some examples. Favoritism! Workload! Denied time off! Steeling credit for work YOU did! Avoiding critical discussion on race! They are vague or flat out ignore your questions! But one thing is clear, if you are in their inner circle - none of those people got laid off. In fact, I saw several questionable “arrangement” to ensure they protected each other. Open your eye and find something else - leave! You can’t fix it!

It’s also been mentioned in past posts, along with all the other discriminations.
It certainly includes age, gender, LGBTQ, and persons with health conditions, as well! If you don’t fit into their little group of racist, you are out, or at a minimum patronized with all sorts of fakeness. The OP, is right, I hear conversations from leadership frequent enough that raise serious concerns. But guess what. One of the “ladies” is high up in the HR organization - you better believe she protects them. Also remember - HR is their to protect the company NOT YOU! I’m working on getting out. It’s toxic enough. There are plenty of opportunity with much better environment. You’ll kick yourself wondering why you put yourself through this nonsense.
You ARE correct, there is racism and all that inclusion talk is just for show, they post picture cutouts of LGBTQ employees only for other employees in the community to make fun of them, it's sad. I guess the people that focused on looking good on paper and getting on manager's good side were the smartest as they got promoted even if they clearly didn't know the "company values" or needed work procedures but the ones who actually cared and tried being thorough got dismissed as nothing, I never thought I'd say this about Centene but we are just numbers to them. And yes, there's an immense amount of favoritism and racism, your examples were accurate.
This last round of layoffs were very heavy on shedding employees for age + pay, not on knowledge, experience or a value add to the departments. I didn't see racism in any of the departments I worked in for over a decade and I'd swear to that. I was never asked the retirement questions, but as part of this last layoff due to my age and pay grade, I could have told them I have no prayer, financially, to retire for at least seven more years. I'm too young to retire, but having a nightmare of a time finding a position with adequate pay and our jerk of a Governor in MO just decided nobody on unemployment needs the extra $300 from the Feds as he feels that we should all be waitresses or work in construction. He is a joke as are all the others that cut this lifeline to the unemployed. It was only applicable through September and he is clipping this on June 12th.. I'd love to see those jokers live on a couple of hundred a week. Age discrimination is a disgrace at this company considering the greedy CEO is late 70's and appears to have sold his soul to the devil with this latest layoff maneuver.
How about covert age discrimination? Our manager asked all the people over 60 what their retirement plans are, supposedly something they do annually for planning purposes (first year I've ever been asked). Other comments too like suggesting someone should look for a transfer because they don't fit in, etc. All to the people who are nearer retirement.
