This is for those who have remained loyal to the company. I’m going to tell you what someone told me a long time ago before he was laid off. If the company doesn’t care then why should you? Let that sink in for a minute. Misplaced loyalty won’t protect you from future layoffs. In the end everyone is expendable.

Unless you have very specialized skills, you are likely easily replaced... So don't ever expect you're safe from termination or lay off, and at minimum, passively keep an ear to the ground for other opportunities.
Maybe people should learn some new skills, how’s that for an idea...
