Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Oh how we have fallen

From PH to VB in 8 years. Obviously Engineering is an after thought and undervalued supporting role now. Does a young engineer see a future here or just a resume filler for a couple years? Do the people making these hiring decisions even think about what we will think of their chosen leader? Can you imagine putting her in a room with Rolls Royce, PWC or Honeywell to discuss a complicated technical or contractual issue? What about figuring out how to ensure the G650 wing doesn't have slats? What about in the room with the FAA to keep from shutting us down over a compliance issue? It is obvious that decisions for leadership roles are no longer based on merit or demonstrated results. HR influence and political correctness is the stain on the fabric of a once great company. Is anyone that is still here confident these leaders can lead us through the known challenges we face. The G700 issues grow daily with no resolution. Can they make the decisions to ensure prosperity, job security and prevent the next pending RIF? This LT needs to retire and leave this company to people that plan to be here longer than just the next year. You have already milked enough bonuses at our expense and the expense of the hundreds of engineers we have let go just to now scramble and rehire. I hope your bonus was worth the turmoil you caused to all those families. DS- the facade of care you portray has lost its shine and your true colors have come out. You are not our technical savior and we will continue to shut down as long as you continue to pretend to have all the solutions. MB-If you are reading this, and really do love the only company you have ever worked at, please go! Your disregard of the people is evident. Listen to Warren Buffett. If you agree please comment or share. We obviously can't have this conversation in public!

VB has a doctorate in aerospace engineering and has spent almost her entire career working her way up through engineering, starting out as a stress analyst engineer back in the GV days. She is 100% deserving and the fact she is a woman is just icing on the cake.

In the all hands ‘town hall’ with MB and VB, MB said there were 70 applicants for the SVP position and the selection was very thorough. Well when VB spoke, she implied that she never even applied for the position and was totally surprised when MB offered it to her! MB and I’m sure his overlords wisely selected a non applicant based on gender over 70 actual applicants probably 100% of who were the wrong gender. And this week there were 3 new directors of something or other appointed: one white guy, one black guy and one woman. Such perfectness!

MB is just a hack installed by PN to take the heat for the massive cultural changes and bloodletting over the past several years. He was never executive leadership material but they figured since he was a long time employee, other long time employees would be more tolerant of the change in culture. Wolf in sheep’s clothing / Trojan horse. Even MB probably doesn’t realize he was just a puppet. Would have been fine if the change had been positive. The real issue is this LT is so far in over their heads I don’t believe they know what to do. I expect you will see the longer term LT members exit one by one soon and ride off into the sunset. The question then is will they find someone that can come in and replace the remaining leadership that won’t leave and isn’t qualified. There is nothing wrong with “Girl Power” if the person is qualified. That just isn’t the case with several of the recent promotions. Too bad they couldn’t get JL out or retirement. The last of the real leaders you could be proud to be associated with.

Half the problems with the viii is because they copied the garbage vi structure that vb was supposedly the director of.

At least customers will be used to the same shti products.

It wasn't like there was a long line of people for that job and they needed to fill it pronto. CM would still be on boardif it wasn't for him actually having ethics and a backbone. I'm not hearing much sighing over VB though. I expect she was tossed in to maintain status quo and "look strong' until a replacement can be found.
