I am still looking for another job while at the same time giving my all to BN. Do I hate working here - no. But I don’t love working here either. For me it’s just a job while for others it seems to be a way of life. I don’t get that and I never will. I know full well that I may be laid off sooner rather than later and if I can get ahead of it - score one for me. This company is a corporation that will put profit over people - end of story.

I'll never order anything from any B&N cafe. Even the food is stale and moldy. I remember one of our employees got really sick. I rather go to a food place where they pay their employees well and treat them better.
People hate the cafe because it's an actual job that people do. Starbucks requires mental fortitude, which booksellers usually don't have.
Look in any BN cafe ice machine. Mold.

So chaotic where I work, the store manager is a big problem he burns out his staff with to many unnecessary projects and always throws them under the bus if anything goes wrong it’s awful.
I feel bad for the full-time hold outs
I DON’T. If they choose to stay they deserve what they get. Maybe it’s low self esteem , maybe they don’t have the sense to save themselves.
I feel bad for the full-time hold outs, they're the ones who really get treated like sh*t. I've seen so many part-timers that don't even stay a month because they see how bad it is, and the cafe people stay for training and do one shift and never return. It's a never ending cycle and the store wastes a fortune doing it over and over again. Everyone HATES the cafe and for good reason! IT SUCKS. So now they stick the managers and full-time people in there until they get sick of it and quit. Then the company will save even more money!
Leave them before they throw you out.
Good for you but it wasn't always like it is now. Who are you, what postiion do you have and where are you located? That makes all the difference.
