Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Are high-profile departures being backfilled?

This article was posted in another thread.

I haven’t seen that any of the people mentioned there have been backfilled or replaced with other well-known legal domain experts.

Have there been any recent high-profile hires or promotions in Legal? How about in other parts of the business. None come to mind.

Some of them are with a lesser title and by an inexperienced person. But mostly, no.

There are already customer facing roles for customer support in Manila.

This makes sense. Not hard to imagine how managers/directors “promoted” into taking more responsibilities and teams from ousted or departing directors/VPs will act when they realize that the promotion just came with more work and not a new title or pay increase.

We’re already seeing the trickling effects with a couple recent departures.

They can and they are. Labor in India and Phil are both cheap. They'll just pile on more people. It isn't about customers or products. It's about cutting costs to make profit look better to sell off the business. We're run by consultants working on a short-term plan.

TR can’t outsource Sales, Product and customer-facing roles to Manila. If they are not back-filling these roles, they are expecting junior people to step up and other managers to absorb customer accounts, teams and projects.

Five outsourced people for the price of one in the US. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how that's going to end. Pity TR leaders can't see that. The old adage "You get what you pay for" springs to mind here.

No, being involved from a senior management level position who has been involved for several months in this reorg fiasco, no high-level positions are being backfilled. All new positions are moving to Manila. I am so tired of hearing how GREAT the new organization is going to be, while being told that multiple senior, director, and senior/mid-management level positions are being eliminated and essentially replaced where they can afford to hire five people for the price of one in the US. I know this because I have direct sight into training and onboarding, and I have direct reports in the APAC region so I know what their salaries are compared to US employees with more than a decade of knowledge and experience. This ship is going down in flames.

I am not sure why any executive would come to Thomson Reuters unless they have an iron clad contract to protect them from their constant reorganizations that constantly fail. Everyone knows the Thomson's plans are to sell the businesses at a big yard sale/flea market.
