"When we started handing out cellphones because we aren't allowed to replace cable we can't fix because it's too decrepit, I knew the end was near. Recommend they find another provider. That's all great if there is one.
Lay temporary on the ground. String it in trees. Lay it across corn fields. Lay it in ditches. When the farmer jumps in front of your truck and says he is going to plow his field and cut the temp you layer last fall, you laugh and say have at it old buddy. They just look at you in disbelief. Next day you are out laying another 1000ft down and putting all the customers back in service.
Switch down with 400 customers Friday at 4pm? It can wait till Monday. No big deal. Not enuf customers to worry about. Oh wait...any cops, govt agencies or state senators working out of it? No. Ahh not a problem leave it down.
Batteries in offices 20+ years dead. Yup, we know, on "the list" for replacement. It goes on and on. The customers are even wise to the fact nobody cares. "

Savoire Faire was there.......... +++Truth !! +++ Stone cold poker faced "give em a cell phone" !!
Dead batteries. Draining batteries. Dead building generators, Dead portable generators

In the absence of strict government oversight restoration, this will be the new norm. The services you describe for the most part don't fall into the corporate vision, and profit in these sectors means nothing to our management. Their vision: if you cannot sell it off, take it deep into the woods and shoot it. Enjoy your final contract, if they could fire you, you'd already be gone. Does your knee, hip or shoulder hurt? get it fixed, itchy nose, skin cancer? Get things fixed now, tomorrow is not promised and this job takes a toll. Don't be afraid fearless warrior, prepare for the next chapter as it will come.
